Bahamas VAT
Your Bahamas VAT return, prepared from your books.
Zirano records VAT as you invoice, enter bills and record bank lines, then prepares each return from those same books. You check it, file it on the Department of Inland Revenue’s portal, and record that it’s filed.
Zirano prepares VAT returns from your books. It does not give tax advice; confirm the figures before you file.
VAT returns are included on every plan, Free included. No card needed.
VAT recorded as you go
- VAT is recorded on your invoices, bills and bank lines when you record them, so the return is never a separate job at the end of the period.
- Draft invoices and bills aren’t part of a return. If any fall in the period, the return tells you, so nothing is left out by accident.
A return you can check line by line
- Sales and purchases are shown by VAT rate, before VAT and the VAT itself, with exempt sales listed on their own.
- VAT on your sales, less the VAT on purchases you can reclaim, gives what you owe the authority, or a credit carried forward to your next return.
- A change made late to an earlier period is included and shown on its own line, and credit already held from earlier returns is taken off.
- In the accountant view, each VAT account opens to every entry behind it, so any figure can be traced to its invoice, bill or bank line.
Periods and due dates, kept for you
- Choose monthly or quarterly filing and the month your first period starts. Zirano works out each period and its due date: the 21st of the following month, or the large-taxpayer date if you tick that box.
- Each period shows whether it’s due, how many days are left, or that it’s overdue.
Filing stays in your hands
- Zirano doesn’t submit or pay anything for you. File on the Department of Inland Revenue’s portal first, then record the date you filed and the confirmation number. That period’s VAT then shows as owed to the authority.
- Returns are filed in order, and only once their period has ended.
- When you pay, record the payment from your bank statement like any other line.
- Found a mistake after filing? Re-open the return with a reason; its figures go back into the books and you can file it again. Nothing is quietly edited: the correction stays visible in the history.
Not registered yet?
- Zirano shows your sales over the last 12 months against the BSD 100,000 registration threshold, so you can see it coming. Whether and when you need to register is a question for the Department of Inland Revenue or your accountant.
